24 Years. One Advisor.

A Retirement Plan Built Around You.

I'm Pat Kerfoot, a CFP® professional and independent financial advisor based in Post Falls, Idaho and Las Vegas, Nevada.

I built this practice on a straightforward belief: people approaching retirement deserve a real relationship with an advisor who knows their name, understands their situation, and is accountable to them — not to a product quota or a corporate call center.

What Brought Me to Retirement and Safe-Money Planning

I've spent 24 years in financial services, and the longer I've worked in this field, the more I've come to focus on the phase of life that matters most financially: the years just before and just after retirement.

Pre-retirees face a different set of questions than younger investors. The conversation shifts from accumulation to protection — from growing a portfolio to making sure it produces reliable income for the rest of your life. That shift requires a different kind of planning, and it's where I do my best work.

My approach centers on what I call safe-money planning: strategies that prioritize principal protection and dependable retirement income over market-chasing growth. That philosophy shapes every recommendation I make.

My Credentials and What They Mean for You

I hold the CFP® designation which represents one of the most rigorous credential standards in the financial planning profession. Earning it required completing an extensive coursework curriculum, passing a comprehensive board exam, and meeting ongoing continuing education requirements.

Because I'm licensed in multiple states, I can serve clients across the Pacific Northwest and well beyond North Idaho.

Acting in Your Best Interests as a CFP® Professional

As a CFP® professional, I am held to a fiduciary standard when providing financial planning services. That means I'm obligated to act in your best interest — not in the interest of a product manufacturer or a parent company.

This matters in retirement planning because the recommendations that are best for you and the recommendations that generate the highest commissions are not always the same thing. My independent model gives me the flexibility to recommend what I genuinely believe is right for your situation, drawing from a wide range of tools rather than a limited shelf of in-house products.

How I Work With Clients

My approach is built around two priorities. First, I help clients build a tax-advantaged retirement plan that seeks to preserve and grow what they've worked for. Second, I help create dependable retirement income — the kind that arrives every month regardless of what the market is doing.

I call this safe-money planning. It's not about avoiding growth. It's about making sure the foundation of your retirement is never at risk. From Social Security timing to Roth conversion planning to fixed indexed annuities, every strategy I recommend is designed to reduce uncertainty and increase the confidence you carry into retirement.

The Part of This Work That Means the Most to Me

I'm in this profession because I genuinely love people. Over the years, my clients have welcomed me into some of the most meaningful moments of their lives — the arrival of a grandchild, a milestone birthday, a difficult diagnosis, the loss of a spouse. Those moments remind me that this work is never just about money. It's about what money makes possible: time, freedom, and peace of mind.

My clients are individuals, families, and small business owners who are ready to take retirement seriously. What they have in common is that they want clarity about where they stand, confidence that their plan will hold, and the comfort of knowing they won't outlive their income.

That's what I work toward with every client I serve.

My Life Outside the Office

My wife Mary and I share a deep love of history and travel. We've explored the desert Southwest, the British Isles, and much of Europe together — and there's still plenty of ground left to cover. When I'm not working with clients, you'll likely find me planning the next trip.
